Location

Las Vegas, United States, Nevada

The only thing I really liked in Las Vegas was the Bellagio fountain and one very good, cold beer. It was nearly 100 degrees. We walked around and won $1.25 playing slots, then we lost $1.00 and quit before we went broke. We waited for the sunset to cross the Mojave. But a tanker full of hydrochloric acid had spilled across I-15 at Baker, and there was a forest fire in the Cajon Pass. We waited and waited at a MacDonald's in Primm, which is a cheap discount mostly Latino-family version of Vegas, and an odd name for anything in Nevada. We sat on the road near Baker for 2 hours or so before they cleared the highway but it was still faster than going all the way south to I-40, the only real alternative.
