ALONG THE ASCENT TO JERUSALEM: Leaving Tiberius for stops at Gideon Spring and Beit She’an – the most spectacular excavation in Israel on the location where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were put on display by the Philistines – Journey Home participants were enthralled with the changing scenery along the route parallel to the Jordan River and the Israel/Jordan border. Leaving the lush area around the Sea of Galilee, the tour quickly reached the sandy-colored Samarian and Judean mountain ranges, nearly void of any vegetation, and passed the Mount of Temptation where Jesus spent 40 nights.
