Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand

Just as I was thinking New Zealand couldn't get any more beautiful I entered Abel Tasman National Park, everyone I had met until now raved about it and it's no wonder it is New Zealands most visited National Park.

As I'm spending quite a bit of money on the Queen Charlotte Track next week I decided to only take a water taxi and do a day walk, rather than pay for a full day kayaking. It was a gorgeous day and the sun was shining. I got picked up by bus in Nelson, driven to Marahau where I caught the water taxi to Anchorage Bay. The walk back from there was a fairly easy 15km along the coast where the bus pciked me up and returned to Nelson.

I'm catching a bus from Nelson tomorrow and heading towards Picton ready for my early start on Monday for the Queen Charlotte Track. It is a total distance of 71km and I have backpackers booked along the route for 3 nights, the water taxis collects your bag in the morning and ferries it to your next accommodation so you only have to trek with your day pack and lunch. I'm really looking forward to it - fingers crossed for sunshine!
