There were many Ghats leading onto the Ganges with lots of people bathing, swimming and doing their laundry. At sunset we took a boat out for a prayer ceromony involving the lighting of candels. From here we watched a nightly ritual of music, prayer and dance.
A few of us woke early and took a boat out for sunrise, it was a totally different feel to the night before with lots of people up doing their washing and jobs. We saw bodies being burnt and scattered into the Ganges which was quite a surreal experience...especially when there were goats and cows rummaging through remains!!
Second day was electons and most shops/markets were closed so people could go and vote. We took an overnight train to Kolkata... our last stop on the tour!!
