Location

Munchen (Munich), Germany

In my opinion Munich is the true centre of Europe.

Not only is it located so close to so many cities in Europe (no more than 6hr train ride to some amazing cities, i.e Paris, Florence, Milan, Prague, Salzburg, Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels...) but also because they have an amazing contribution to art, science, history, and of course food and beer.

So a quick bit on a bit of history, a history BITE, if you will. Catholic Bavaria was once a separate kingdom from the rest of Protestant Germany. It was ruled by lavish kings who built outrageous castles and held massive parties (the origins of Oktoberfest). They were the only region in West Germany to decline the constitution in 1949. Even today Bavaria holds a separate and distinct identity from the rest of Germany, and even has their own branch of the Red Cross.
