Na samem zaključku dirke nisem imel priložnosti pisati.
Ker ste vedeli, da bo Jure zmagal, to niti ni bilo pomebno. Njegov dosežen čas je bil 8dni, 23ur in 33minut.
Zmagal je že četrtič! Edini v 27 letni zgodovini dirke!
Za uspeh je v največji meri zaslužen sam. Z načinom življenja in trdim delom mu je uspelo to kar ni uspelo še nikomur. In nekaj časa tudi nikomur ne bo. Mogoče v širnem svetu RAAM ne pomeni veliko, pomeni pa veliko mnogim privržencem kolesarstva v ZDA, Sloveniji "pa čak i šire".
To smo imeli priložnost doživeti na mnogih časovnih postajah, ko so "fani" padali skoraj v nezavest, ko jim je namenil nekaj minut za fotografiranje in podpise. Samo zato, da bi ga videli so prišli tudi več kot 100 milj daleč. Srečanje z Juretom, ki je za te kolesarske navdušence polbog jim je pomenilo ogromno.
Doma ste spremljali dirko preko interneta skozi moje besede, uradne rezultate, živo video sliko in fotografijami in tracki na Peugeot-Triptracker strani. Odzivali ste se z ogromno vpisi v knjigo gostov in še bolj ogromno ogledi juretove strani. Nimam točnega podatka, ampak prepričan sem, da ste presegli rekord gledanosti juretove strani. Hvala vam.
Danes je Jureta na cilju pričakal veleposlanik Republike Slovenije v ZDA s svojo ekipo in nam pripravil kratek sprejem v enem od hotelov v Annapolisu. Za krajši čas se je oglasil tudi vojaški ataše Republike Slovenije.
Vse to nam pove, da je Jure naredil nekaj ogromnega, nekaj kar bo ostalo zapisano v zgodovini športa.
Upam, da sem vam vsaj deloma potešil željo po novicah z dirke. Vsaj trudil sem se.
Izredno so se potrudili tudi drugi člani ekipe na letošnjem RAAM-u. Nima smisla izpostavljati posameznikov, razen morda dveh požrtvovalnih fantov iz določenega modrega avtomobila, ki sta bila zapostavljena v preteklih novicah. Bila sta tako učinkovita, da sta bila skoraj neopažena. Vendar brez njune požrtvovalnosti Jure ne bi dobil pizze v 20 minutah, niti ne sladoleda v 5 minutah. Bila sta prava "spidija".
Upam, da sem s tem popravil krivico Alešu Štarklju in Dejanu Lavriču in si zaslužil mrzlo pivo. :)
Vsi sprašujejo Jureta, če pride drugo leto spet. Spraševali so ga tudi, če je res da si želi dirkati z Lancem Armstrongom na RAAM-u.
Odgovoril jim je z vprašanjem: "Is Lance coming to RAAM? When you know the answer, ask me again."
Jure, s ponosom sem bil že petič član tvoje ekipe na RAAM-u. Tudi mene sprašujejo zakaj hodim na RAAM. Pošteno povedano, ne vem. Nekaj me že mora vleči, da pustim doma razumevajočo ženo in otroke in se podam s tabo na veliki ameriški kontinent v avanturo polno neznanega.
Vem pa, da če greš še enkrat, grem s tabo. Če seveda moja žena ostane razmevajoča.

I didn't get a chance to write immediately after the race, but because you already knew that Jure was going to win, it wasn't a big issue. His total time on the road was 8 days, 23 hours and 33 minutes.
This is his fourth championship! He is the one and only four-time winner in the 27-year history of the race!
This success is something that Jure for the most part earned by himself. His way of life and hard work resulted in a level of success that no one else has attained to date. And for the foreseeable future, no one will. Perhaps in a global context RAAM isn't a very popular event, however it has tremendous importance to many cycling enthusiasts in the USA, Slovenia, and other countries.
We had the pleasure at several time stations to experience "fans" swooning and fainting when Jure set aside a few minutes of his time to pose for photos and to sign autographs. Many came from more than 100 miles away just to catch a glimpse of him.
Meeting Jure, who is looked upon as a demigod by these enthusiasts, was a very meaningful thing for them.
At home, you followed the race via internet and through my words, official results, live video, and photos and GPS tracks on the Peugeot-Triptracker site. You posted a huge amount of comments in the guestbook and even more of you visited Jure's website.
I don't have the exact data to confirm anything but I'm absolutely sure that you all broke the record for the most hits to Jure's website. Thank you, everyone!
The U.S.-based ambassador for the Republic of Slovenia and his staff waited for Jure today at the finish line, and prepared a small reception for him in a hotel in Annapolis. The military attache for the Republic of Slovenia also dropped by.
All of this verifies for us that Jure achieved something tremendous, something that will from today and forevermore be written in the annals of sport.
I hope that I appeased your thirst for news updates concerning the race. I gave it my best.
Other members of the team especially made great efforts in this year's RAAM. I don't have the space here to mention each and every individual, except maybe for two self-sacrificing lads from a certain blue car who weren't mentioned at all in the previous news entries. They were so efficient that they were hardly ever noticed. Without their unselfish perseverance, Jure wouldn't have gotten a fresh pizza within 20 minutes, nor even an ice-cream in 5 minutes. They truly were a pair of "Speedies".
I hope that now that I've mentioned Aleš Štarklj and Dejan Lavrič, that I have atoned for my past sins and have earned myself a nice cold beer :)
Everyone's wondering if Jure plans to return to next year's RAAM. They're also asking him if he's serious regarding his known desire to race against Lance Armstrong in RAAM.
He answered them in the form of a question: "Is Lance coming to RAAM?". Then, "When you know the answer, ask me again."
Jure, I'm proud to be a member of your RAAM team for the fifth time. People ask me why I participate in RAAM. To be honest, I myself don't know exactly. Something obviously tugs at me enough that I temporarily abandon my understanding wife and kids back home, and join you on the huge American continent to embark wild, unexpected adventures.
All I know is, if you're going to race again, I'm with you... if my wife continues to be understanding, that is :)
