New Year's Eve in Sydney as seen from the Sydney Opera House, where there was a delightful opera gala. Both the gala and the pyrotechnics were infinitely improved from their 2004 incarnation (Gershwin via Austria? Ach, nein!) and the evening was perfect since we wouldn't see the bill for staying at the Westin until several days later.
