The countdown is on. I've seen a decent part of south east Asia in the Past 11 weeks and now Jaree and I have headed back to Bangkok for departure. I'm really glad that we spent a couple of days here at new years because otherwise it all would've been totally overwhelming. Bangkok is just so big and busy that it blows my mind. We decided to skip Khao San for a couple of days and instead stay closer to the heart of the city and the shopping. We are infact staying up a quiet little street that is only a block away from MBK. MBK is a massive shopping complex which has just about everything and anything. There is basically a floor dedicated to everything from electronics to clothing and all at a really good price. However, on our first shopping day we ventured out of the city to the Chatuchak markets. These markets make the 8 floors of MBK seem very very tame. They were ceretainly the most amazing markets I have ever been to. You could buy anything there including a puppy dog if you so desired. We spent 8 hours there and we proably only saw about half of the markets. I couldn't get over the size and variety along with the number of people there. I was lso very impressed with the quality of the clothing and homewares that you could buy. I imagined that it would be just a big junk maket full of rip-offs but I was very wrong. I could've spent alot of money at Chatuchak but I'm on a budget and I've come this far so I intend to stick to it. I did get quite a few nice bits a pieces which I'm very pleased about and I have money to spare for the next 2 days of shopping!

We met up with Sarah and Hana last night over at Khao San after they flew in from Hanoi. Sounds like they had a really great time in Veitnam despite the cold. We were glad to see them again as it's always nice to have the company of others.

I'm looking forward to a busy few days abroad before heading out of here on Thursday night (I'm sure navigating Bangkok Airport will be an adventure in itself. fun fun.)

oxox imo
