we spent two nights in zugong. andreas managed to get his broken spoke welded and it is actually still ok!
out of zugong we had a very gentle uphill, the weather was perfect, the road was sealed and we were making progress. we crossed a 4600m something pass and ran out of asphalt. ahead of us was the most amazing road so far. on an extremely bad dirt road we lost almost 2000 meters in altitude over 40 km of downhill. the bikes were taking a bad hit! we went from the cold windy pass into a desert valley where it felt like someone was holding a hairdryer to your face. it was hot!
it was also impossible to find a place to camp. at the bottom of the valley we found a deserted house. as i was looking to se if it would be possible to sleep there it turned out not to be deserted. it was home to 30 or so road construction workers. they offered us a room.
we cycled 165 km that day...!
