| How do I assign picture to trip entry | ||

| I tried with import GPS file (KML or GPX) I ma not sure it works well, but now I want to do it manually. So I created entries, and set the location, and have the pictures imported form flickr. But do I assign picture for specific entry, unless I missed the trick | ||

| Pictures are automatically "assigned" to trip entries based on time. Suppose you have a trip entry titled "Christmas Day" on Dec 25th 2006 at 00:00 and a trip entry titled "Boxing Day" on Dec 26th at 00:00. Then all photos that were shot on Dec 25th will be assigned to the "Christmas Day" trip entry. Photos shot before or after Dec 25th will be assigned to other trip entries. -- Andrej | ||

| BTW: What sort of probems did you have with importing KML/GPX. I believe there may be problems if there are no timestamps in the tracklog. Otherwise, this should work well, and if the tracklog was recorded at the same time as the photos, you don't need to bother with dates/times at all. Just use the "split"/"merge" buttons to create trip entries that contain at least one photo. | ||

| Thanks, I will try again with import of GPX files, after setting the time stamp | ||

| Its actually a matter of whether your GPS receiver records timestamps in GPS tracklogs or not. If timestamts are recorded, then they should already be in your GPX. Another possibility is that the software you are using to produce GPX files strips the timestamps. Are you using a Garmin GPS receiver? Garmins have a nasty habit of saving some space by discarding timestamps in your tracklogs. Specifcally, timestamps are stored for the active log on the GPS unit, but the timestamps are deleted once you "save" the log. | ||

| No, I was not importing GPS file, I was entering manually, and same for the pictures. Its OK now, except that to move pictures form entry to entry its not enough to change time, I need to change PM to AM and back. | ||

| Trying the import, I have several files (GPX, CSV, NMEA). When I create trip by import it logs only start and end as entries, even though I see all trip as blue curving line on map. Look at http://triptracker.net/trip/943/ | ||

| Indeed, this doesn't work very well. I've just played with changing photo times, etc. and had the same problems that you described. I'll create a ticket in our bug tracking system. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon. The site is actually quite hard to work with if you're entering data manually. The interface is very photo-centered. The best results can be expected if you first upload a batch of photos and work with the split/merge functions. If the time on the camera was set incorrectly, you can fix that by selecting all photos (ctrl+A in the edit photos tab) and shifting the time. | ||

| I have used uploading tool now, still the GPX file will create only one trip entry. How do I create all entries form GPX or external file? | ||

| Is this the trip: [url=http://triptracker.net/trip/951/]http://triptracker.net/trip/951/ ? The problem appears to be that the GPX doesn't contain any timestamps. To check this, you can open your GPX file in an editor and search for <time> tags (for example <time>2005-11-24T12:00:03Z</time>). Basically, every <trkpt> element should have a <time> tag. Anyway, if you don't have timestamps, you can still create the trip entries manually. Go to trip --> edit --> trip entries. Click "add trip entry", set a title and click "add trip entry" again. The click on "set location". You can selet a location by clicking on the map. Use the "snap to track" button to move to the closest matching point in your GPX tracklog. If you intend to add pictures to your trip, a better way would be to upload your pictures first using the uploader. Then use split/merge to create trip entries. And finally set the locations of these entries as described above. | ||

| rsegoly: A note when manually creating GPS tracks. All time stamps in the track need to be in GMT time zone (GMT+0). This is expected since all GPS receivers create tracks this way. Combined with a time zone information assigned to a photo and a local time inside the photo we try to assign the correct location. | ||
