New to this and want to use my Garmin nuvi 750 for trip tracker but can't figure it out how to do it. I am relocating across the country and my manual is packed. Can anyone walk me through what I need to do if I want to add the GPS info to my trips? Thanks!

Hi Kelly,
I didn't know Nuvis could save track files? Could you send a sample track file to support@triptracker.net so we can have a look at it?

I just found your service so sorry if this is elsewhere.

Any news on Nuvi's doing track files? I got a Nuvi 275T for Xmas.

I don't know ANYTHING about GPS other than what's in my iPhone :-)

Hi Robbin,
Latest Novi models do store a track file.
You need to connect your Nuvi to a computer and then via file browser look for [drive]:\Garmin\GPX\Current\Current.gpx.
This way you get a GPX file which you can then upload to TripTracker.net.

Best if you try it out a couple of times. There were some reports of this file being overwritten occasionally.
When testing this feature around the house also note that Nuvi needs to travel at least a mile before the track file is saved to the disk.

There is also an advanced feature I haven't tested yet which stores track point for every second to the card.
You can read more about it at: http://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/HiddenTrackLogHowTo.pdf.
Using this method you get a binary file which you need to convert to GPX via an external software before uploading to TripTracker.net. You also need to be careful to clean these files before they clog your memory card.

If you need any additional help let me know.
regards,
gregor

Use this: http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/ and any supported site, e.g. everytrail, mtbguru etc. and you can easily get your tracks.

I personally use MtbGuru (http://www.mtbguru.com/garmin/new), works fine with my Nuvi 250
