| Google Earth track cannot be uploaded | ||

| tried with FF2 and IE6 to upload a Google Earth KML file but it never works: the upload process (storing + processing) always seems to work, but when it is finished I am back to a trip with no track and where the it says "no location information". Any ideas? Thanks, - Chris | ||

| Hi Chris, Unfortunately, Google Earth KML files are not very useful since they do not contain any time information (track point time information is vital for matching and positioning photos). We'll likely remove the option of uploading KML files. If possible, please upload the GPS track files that your GPS receiver (e.g. Garmin) initially exported. Those should retain enough time information to be useful for TripTracker. -- Ziga TripTracker Team | ||

| Hi Ziga - Thanks for this. I did some digging and came out with some quite useful info: my GPS logger (a wintec WBT 100) does export tracks with timestamps in GPX, but not as yourightly pointed out, in KML. BUT: I had a look at the KML spec and the latest version (2.1) DOES now include timestamps (2.0 did not). So you may wan to hang on to your KML yet and in the mean time, I will remember to export GPX out of my GPS. - Chris | ||

| Please do not get rid of KML files. I’m using your app with NO GPS!!!! I map out the track of a trip in Google Map - export it as a GPX (using GMaptoGPX bookmarlet), then convert it to KML using GPSBabel. Now it goes to Triptracker. If you got rid of KML, please provide a way for those of us who do NOT HAVE a GPS. | ||

| Hi Chris D, If you are using GMaptoGPX I suggest uploading the resulting GPX directly to the TripTracker. You can also open GPX format in Google Earth aswell so I see no real benefit in using KML. You also have to be aware that a GPS track created this way does not include any time information and therefore TripTracker cannot automatically locate the photos. best regards, gregor | ||

| Gregor - You have hit the nail on the head: in most circumstances, the KML that is still around is in the old format. But Google has just introduced an update to the KML format which DOES include timestamps. | ||
